watercolor

My watercolors are usually done on location. I travel with watercolor. Quietly painting a scene engraves in my awareness and memory the image and my feeling forever.  Watercolor invites me to surrender to both the discipline and unpredictability of working with pigment that behave uniquely in water. The medium also gives me an excuse to sit quietly in places I love and take them in.  Some of these are Yosemite, Vermont, Aix-en-Provence, France;  Georgian Bay, Canada; Northern New Mexico; Kaua'i; Lebanon; Stradbroke Island, Australia;  and Mendocino, California. Watercolor always surprises with the unrepeatable conditions experienced in every painting.
